Hello Step Off! Magazine family, with yet another year gone by we want to thank you all for taking our sixth annual online music poll and for helping us celebrate our fifth full year of operation here at Step Off! Magazine! Much like its predecessor 2021 has been a very long, difficult year for all of us both in the United States and across the globe. Just as I did last year, I admittedly had some reservations about putting together a top album poll for 2021. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to march on in most of the world and many large-scale events barely now just returning, many artists have still been unable to tour and thus promote new albums. In the pandemic’s wake, many artists and labels have still opted to push back release dates or even postpone projects indefinitely altogether.
However, in spite of all these obstacles, some brave artists have chosen to release projects in spite of the uncertain future that lies ahead for touring groups and musicians. It felt it was only right to continue on in our yearly tradition and publish our online music poll for the top Hip-Hop album of 2021, and celebrate our fifth full year of operation here at Step Off! Magazine. Although I have continued to branch out as a writer and journalist, contributing to other publications (and scaling back contributions on Step Off! as result) this website still does and always will hold a special place in my heart. And I want to thank all you for supporting this platform over the past five years. It’s my hope all of you still continue to rock with us as go into 2022, and that hopefully brighter and better days are ahead well. As always, we did our best to compile what we felt were the strongest, most compelling, and most enjoyable releases of 2021.
